CIVIS Online Prize

New: As of autumn 2009

The new European CIVIS Online Prize seeks journalistically-prepared webpages on the theme of integration and cultural diversity on the Internet. The prize will honour innovative multi-media offers of a high journalistic quality, which handle the theme in exemplary fashion and are particularly suitable for the promotion of peaceful coexistence in the European immigration Society. The CIVIS Online Prize will be open to entries from all over Europe as of autumn 2009.

The prizes will be awarded to new journalistic forms which are processed graphically and with a multi-media approach for the Web. The accessibility of the webpages is decisive. All creative forms will be permitted. The webpages must focus themes of integration and cultural diversity and be accessible in the German or English language. The prize is endowed with 5,000 Euro.

All suppliers are qualified to participate in the European CIVIS Online Prize who have their headquarters in the European Union and Switzerland. The prizes will be presented to official representatives or the persons responsible.

An independent international jury of leading journalists as well as online experts will decide on the Internet offers taking part in the European competition and the selection of the prize-winners. The decision of the jury is final. The process of law is excluded.

The Internet has taken a firm place in the everyday life, particularly of younger people, as an information and entertainment media. As a "Metamedia" it picks up the traditional media offers. The Internet opens a new multi-media world of communications in which the classic genres and formats of all media will be united in future. With the new CIVIS Online Prize as of autumn 2009, the European CIVIS Media Prize will be offering an additional Internet prize for journalistic webpages in the area of integration and cultural diversity.
