Prof. Dr. Bassam Tibi, born in 1944 in Damascus. Emeritus. Studied social sciences, philosophy and history in Frankfurt under Adorno, Habermas, Horkheimer and Fetscher. Habilitation in Hamburg. 1973-1988 Professor of International Relations in Göttingen afterwards head of the Department of International Relations. Further teaching activities: visiting scholar at Harvard University, resident fellow of the Rockefeller Foundation at the Bellagio Center in Como. Also several Academic Exchange Service guest chairs in Asia and Africa and several fellowships at Princeton. A.D. White Professor-at-Large at the Cornell University. Articles in German, English and Arabic.
