Österreichischer Rundfunk (ORF)
Österreichischer Rundfunk (ORF) is an independent media corporation under public law. It offers about 288 hours radio and 48 hours of television programmes daily with its 14 radio and two television stations which are transmitted by about 1.800 stations. Together with ZDF, SRG and ARD, ORF also operates the TV-satellite programme 3sat. Another service provided by ORF is ORF TELETEXT which offers about 2000 pages of information and services around-the-clock. With ORF.at, its online information platform, ORF is also responsible for Austria’s leading Internet offer. Within recent years, ORF has steadily extended its media offer – via radio, television, ORF.at and ORF TELETEXT: within the scope of the development of ORF into a modern multimedia company, the audience is presented, on the one hand, with special interest channel like TW 1, new media and new technologies such as digital, interactive television or news services via SMS and UMTS, while on the other, the company is opening up its rich video and sound archives and increasingly producing video, CD and cassette editions. The main locations of the ORF are the ORF Centre, Broadcasting House and ORF Heiligenstadt in Vienna, plus the regional studios in the federal states.
