Freudenberg foundation
The Freudenberg foundation (Freudenberg Stiftung GmbH) was founded in 1984. Members of the Freudenberg family transferred shares in the Freudenberg company which was exclusively in family ownership, to a non-profit-making foundation. The purpose of the foundation is the promotion science and education as well as the intensification of the peaceful coexistence in society. The Freudenberg Stiftung makes annual donations of around 1.75 million Euro. Since its foundation the foundation has been devoting itself to three theme areas - the integration of cultural minorities, the hostile and discriminating reactions which they are faced with and the promotion of a democratic culture which is the precondition for peaceful coexistence - the promotion of young people who, in particular, for reasons of social discrimination on their way through school and through the system of occupational qualification get into difficulties - the reintegration of the mentally ill in working and professional life as well as the sensitization for their specific problems. The focus of the projects are mainly on young people. Together with Westdeutscher Rundfunk on behalf of the ARD, the Freudenberg Stiftung established the CIVIS Medienstiftung, in order to provide the proven CIVIS Radio and Television Prize with a permanent basis and to make a new start possible.
