German Federal Government Commissioner for Migration, Refugees and Integration
The commissioner for Migration, Refugees and Integration is appointed by the Federal Government and supports it in an independent and advisory function in the further development of the integration policy and the promotion of coexistence of foreign immigrants and Germans. Since November 2005, the Minister of State in the Federal Chancellor’s Office Prof. Dr. Maria Böhmer, has held the position. After Heinz Kühn (SPD), Liselotte Funcke and Cornelia Schmalz-Jacobsen (both FDP), Ms. Marieluise Beck (Bündnis 90/The Greens), she is the fifth holder of the office since it was created in 1978.
