In the Latvian town of Sabile, the Roma still live a very traditional life close to nature. The Latvians accept their traditions and customs and praise the exemplary family structure of the Roma. The close coexistence in the town has tradition: as Nazi troops occupied Sabile in 1941 and wanted to shoot 200 Roma, the mayor stood up to protect his citizens.
