A premiere that defies all clichés: Kiba Lumberg from Finland and Olah Mara from Hungary are Roma and they are celebrated artists. At the Biennial Festival in Venice 2007 their pictures confront for the first time with the living worlds of the Roma in Europe. They reflect areas of fear as well as symbols of sexual oppression in their traditions and their cultural identity. Free of naive ethnic stereotypes, their art becomes an elixir for survival for the two artists in difficult situations.
