The festival “Rock gegen Überfremdung” (rock against foreign domination) is one of the largest neo-Nazi conventions in the history of Germany. The one-day event attracts 6,000 right-wing extremists from across Europe to the small town of Themar (3,000 inhabitants) in the south of Thuringia. The event is scheduled as a political rally. It is therefore protected by the constitution and cannot be banned. The 24-year-old Muslim journalist Nemi El-Hassan covers the right-wing rock concert. She also speaks to the organiser, a former NPD (German nationalist party) candidate.

Excerpt from the jury’s statement
