PRIZE CATEGORIES

The best programme achievements in film, TV, radio and internet that deal with the issues of migration, integration and cultural diversity in Europe are honoured - all forms of production are eligible. The productions entered must have been released between 24 January 2020 and 21st January 2021. The awards are endowed with a total of over EUR 20,000.

CIVIS awards prizes in a total of four fields and in several categories - as the VIDEO AWARD | AUDIO AWARD | YOUNG C. AWARD | CINEMA AWARD (Audience Award).

Awarded will be

CIVIS TOP AWARD

The new CIVIS TOP AWARD is an additional prize awarded to the best production of the year in the categories AUDIO, VIDEO and YOUNG C. No direct entries can be made for the CIVIS TOP AWARD.

Prize money: 15,000 EURO

CIVIS AUDIO AWARD

The CIVIS AUDIO AWARD is awarded to German language audio- or radio programmes from within the EU or Switzerland - it is divided into categories for short programmes (up to six minutes) and long programmes (between six minutes and 120 minutes max., including podcasts). All forms of production are eligible. All radio stations and online providers of audio features within the EU and Switzerland can submit entries to the competition. Please upload audio features as audio files!

Prize money per category: 2,000 EURO

CIVIS VIDEO AWARD

The CIVIS VIDEO AWARD is awarded to film, TV and online productions (web videos) in the categories >Information< (non-fiction) and >Entertainment< (fiction). All forms of production are eligible. All TV broadcasters, TV production companies, streaming services and providers of online videos (web videos) from within the EU and Switzerland can submit entries to the competition.

The web videos submitted must have been accessible online during the observation period specified in the call for entries (21st January to 21st February 2021). They must not have been substantially changed during this time. Accessibility is the key criterion: all web videos must be accessible in either the German or the English language, stating the exact web address (URL).

With regard to web videos, the CIVIS VIDEO AWARD is presented to the person responsible for the video or the respective representative of the website where the web video can be accessed, as specified in the legal information provided on the site.

Prize money per category: 2,000 EURO

 

YOUNG C. AWARD

The YOUNG C. AWARD is awarded for film, TV and online productions (web videos). All forms of production are eligible. Age limit: participants may not be older than 33 years of age.

All TV broadcasters, TV production companies and providers of online videos (web videos) can submit entries. All film and TV schools, journalism schools, academies and universities for journalism, communications and media in the EU and Switzerland may enter. All rights to the production submitted must have been secured.

The web videos submitted must have been accessible online during the observation period specified in the call for entries (21st January to 21st February 2021). They must not have been substantially changed during this time. Accessibility is the key criterion: all web videos must be accessible in either the German or the English language, stating the exact web address (URL). Complex portals and individual online entries are not permitted.

If the YOUNG C. prize is awarded to a web video, the prize will be given to the person responsible for the video or the representative of the website where the video is available, as specified in the site’s legal notice.

Prize money: 2,000 EURO

CIVIS CINEMA AWARD

The CIVIS CINEMA AWARD is awarded for European feature films shown in German cinemas which address the issues of migration, integration and cultural diversity. All film productions from the EU and Switzerland are eligible for entry. Direct entries are not permitted. CIVIS will nominate three to five films for audience voting online. With attractive prizes for participants.

Prize money: The award is not subject to prize money. The award winners are the director and the producer of the film chosen by the audience.
