Content
Human trafficking and prostitution – “Operation Sugar” presents in the form of a crime thriller how politics, the judiciary and upper social classes operate, organize and conceal child trafficking and child abuse. The film shows how easily children can become victims in a world between power and powerlessness, wealth and poverty, and what it means to be forced to go through hell. Two children from Rumania suffer this fate. They are dependent on the fact that there are people like the two women, Police Inspector Wegemann and Public Prosecutor Lessing, who are courageous enough to take action.

Excerpt from the jury’s statement
Unsparing, shocking – an ambitious film, convincing, outstanding.
