CIVIS Media Prize 2024

The CIVIS Media Prize honours outstanding productions on television, radio, internet and cinema that promote the peaceful coexistence of people of different geographical and cultural origins.

Extension up to and including 24 January 2024!

The CIVIS prizes are awarded in four areas and in various categories:

VIDEO AWARD Non-fictional programmes, fictional programmes and social media formats (moving images).
AUDIO AWARD Short programmes up to 6 min., long programmes from 6 min. and podcasts (German language only)
YOUNG C. AWARD (film, age-limited)
CINEMA AWARD (Audience Award)

NEW 2024: For the CIVIS VIDEO AWARD, productions can also be submitted that have not yet been released, but were screened for the first time at a festival in the above-mentioned period. The festival must be based in the EU or Switzerland.

The CIVIS TOP AWARD additionally honours the best production of the year in the fields of AUDIO, VIDEO and YOUNG C.. Direct application for the CIVIS TOP AWARD is not possible.

The prizes are endowed with a total of 27,000 euros.

The CIVIS Media Prize is offered by ARD, represented by WDR, together with the Freudenberg Foundation. The ORF, SRG SSR, ARTE, 3sat, phoenix, Deutsche Welle, Deutschlandradio and the EBU are media partners. The WDR mediagroup, the Alliance of German Producers, the VFF – Verwertungsgesellschaft der Film- und Fernsehproduzenten, the European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA), the Open Society Foundations and the Deutsche Postcode Lotterie are cooperation partners.

You are cordially invited to submit your contributions on the topics of migration, integration, cultural diversity and – related to this – social cohesion by 19.01.2024.
